THE TREATMENT
The Secret to Super-Smooth Skin.
Dermaplaning is a precise, non-invasive exfoliating treatment that uses a sterile surgical scalpel to gently remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and fine vellus hair from the surface of the skin. The scalpel is held at a 45-degree angle and moved in short, controlled strokes across the face, lifting away everything that dulls the complexion and sits between your skin and the light.
The result is immediate. Skin feels noticeably softer, looks brighter and has a smoothness that makes it more receptive to skincare products and more even under makeup. There is no downtime, no discomfort and no recovery.
Who is Suitable
Dermaplaning is suitable for most skin types, including sensitive skin. It is not recommended for those with active acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis or any active skin condition at the time of treatment.
The Treatment
Benefits
01 /
Smoother Skin
Dead skin cells and vellus hair are removed in a single appointment, leaving the surface of your skin noticeably softer and more refined.
02 /
Better Absorption
With the outer layer cleared, your skincare products penetrate more deeply and work considerably more effectively.
03 /
Fine Lines Softened
Regular appointments can stimulate collagen production, gradually softening the appearance of fine lines over time.
04 /
Makeup Ready
Makeup glides on more evenly and sits better throughout the day on freshly dermaplaned skin.
How does dermaplaning compare?
Dermabrasion
A more intensive resurfacing procedure that uses a specialised tool to sand away the upper skin layers, primarily targeting deeper wrinkles and scarring. It requires a longer recovery period and is performed under clinical conditions.
Microdermabrasion
A gentler form of dermabrasion that uses fine crystals to exfoliate the skin surface, suitable for fine lines and mild acne scars with minimal downtime. Dermaplaning differs in that it also removes vellus hair and requires no abrasive particles.
How it works
Cleanse. Scrape. Reveal.
Your skin is cleansed and dried thoroughly before treatment begins. A sterile surgical scalpel is then held at a 45-degree angle and moved in short, controlled strokes across the face, gently lifting dead skin cells and vellus hair from the surface. The procedure is comfortable, typically painless and takes around 30 minutes to complete.
Results are immediate. Skin feels noticeably smoother and looks brighter from the moment treatment ends, with no recovery time required.

What to Expect
Aftercare
Dermaplaning requires no downtime. Your skin may feel more sensitive than usual immediately after treatment, so a few simple steps in the first 48 hours will help protect your results and keep your skin comfortable.
Immediately After Treatment
Your skin may appear slightly pink and feel sensitive immediately after treatment. This is normal and usually settles within a few hours. Avoid touching the treated area unnecessarily and do not apply makeup for at least 24 hours to allow the skin to settle.
First 24 - 48 Hours
Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms and strenuous exercise for 48 hours. Do not use retinol or any exfoliating products during this time. Use a gentle fragrance-free cleanser and moisturiser only. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to the treated area daily.
Ongoing Care
Dermaplaning is recommended every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain results. Keep your skincare routine gentle between appointments and continue with daily SPF protection. Avoid waxing or any other facial exfoliation treatments in the week before your next appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your Questions Answered
Is dermaplaning the same as shaving?
No. Although both use a blade, dermaplaning is a precision exfoliation treatment performed by a qualified practitioner using a sterile surgical scalpel. It removes dead skin cells as well as vellus hair, which shaving does not. The technique, angle and depth of the blade are entirely different.
Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?
No. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair at the surface only. It does not affect the hair follicle, so regrowth returns at exactly the same thickness and colour as before. The feeling of slight stubble as hair grows back is due to the blunt cut end, not any change in the hair itself.
How often should I have dermaplaning?
Every 4 to 6 weeks is recommended for most patients, which aligns with the skin’s natural renewal cycle.
Is dermaplaning painful?
No. The treatment is comfortable throughout. You may feel a light scraping sensation but it is not uncomfortable.
Can I wear makeup afterwards?
Wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup to allow the skin to settle and reduce any risk of irritation.
When will I see results?
Results are immediate. Skin feels noticeably smoother and looks brighter from the moment treatment ends.
Who is not suitable for dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is not recommended for those with active acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, cold sore outbreaks or any active skin condition at the time of treatment.
Is dermaplaning good for acne-prone skin?
Dermaplaning is not recommended for those with active acne as the blade can spread bacteria and cause irritation. However, it can be beneficial for those with post-acne scarring or congestion-prone skin between breakouts.
Does dermaplaning help with acne scars?
Regular dermaplaning can improve the appearance of superficial acne scarring and uneven texture over time by removing dead skin cells and stimulating cell renewal. For deeper scarring, SkinPen microneedling or a laser treatment may be more appropriate.
Can I have dermaplaning if I am pregnant?
Dermaplaning is generally considered safe during pregnancy as it involves no chemicals or invasive procedures.
