Face Concerns

Jawline Definition

Losing definition along the jawline is one of the more noticeable signs of facial ageing, and one that can affect overall facial balance significantly. The right treatment can restore sharpness and structure to the lower face without surgery or significant downtime.

UNDERSTANDING THE CONCERN

What Causes the Loss of Jawline Definition?

A well-defined jawline creates a clear separation between the face and the neck, contributing significantly to the overall appearance of youth and structure. With age, and sometimes due to genetics or weight changes, this definition softens. The border of the jaw becomes less distinct, the lower face appears heavier and the transition from face to neck becomes blurred.

The causes are typically a combination of bone resorption, loss of soft tissue support and redistribution of fat in the lower face. For some patients, overactive masseter muscles also contribute by widening the lower face and creating an imbalance in facial shape.”

SOUND FAMILIAR?

A less clear separation between the face and neck than there used to be

A lower face that looks heavier or less structured than it once did

A wide or square jaw that feels out of proportion with the rest of the face

Jowling beginning to form along the jaw border

A profile that looks less defined than your front-facing appearance
